In continuation of their demand for Metro link in Old Gurgaon, the residents sent a proposed route map to Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday. The proposed route links the existing HUDA City Centre Metro station with Subhash Chowk at Sohna Road and further to Rajiv Chowk on the Jaipur-Delhi expressway.
From Rajiv Chowk, the proposed route of Metro Lao Sangharsh Samiti (MLSS) would pass through thickly populated areas of old city such as Civil Lines, Sadar Bazaar, Bhim Nagar, Sectors 4 and 5 and further to Dwarka through Palam Vihar and Bijwasan.
“This route would be around 23-km long with 6-7 metro stations from Huda City Centre to Dwarka. This route would be both underground as well as elevated,” said Ashok Taneja, who first charted this route and put it forth in the meeting with MLSS members.
Residents met the CM at his residence on Monday and handed him a memorandum with the proposed Metro route.
“In old city, the route is entirely underground with stations at Mini Secretariat, Shivaji Nagar/Civil Lines, Basai Road or Sadar Bazaar, New Colony or Bhim Nagar and Sectors 4 and 5. From Sectors 4 and 5, this route will further go to Palam Vihar where the DMRC has already proposed a station between IFFCO Chowk, IGI Metro station and Dwarka,” said BD Pahuja, spokesperson, MLSS.
